New - Barnsley 'Street Pastors'

After much prayer, planning and thought, on the 16th September “Christians Together in Barnsley”, signed the licence agreements to start “Barnsley Street Pastors”.
Firstly the Management Team met with officials from the local police and council, who were delighted in the project. We were offered a great deal of support from both, they were so excited, and questions were asked like 'Can you start by Christmas?' Of course we couldn’t; but we have begun recruiting, interviewing and will be training volunteers very soon. A presentation on Street Pastors was warmly received by all the Church leaders, which resulted in a signing of the licence agreements.
The bi-annual Forum for Methodist Evangelists at Cliff College on 22nd October featured the work and ministry of Street Pastors. The main seminar was led by the Rev Les Isaac, director of the Ascension Trust, which has set up over 60 street pastor schemes across the country. That day was very interesting; it is good to be in front of the ball game here in Barnsley, not lagging behind.
